Please call the church office to confirm meeting times and places.
United Methodist Men Mt. Zion Men's Club welcomes all men of the church and the community to our activities. We meet the first Sunday of most months at 8:30 am for breakfast and fellowship. These meetings usually involve brisk discussions concerning our faith. We also involve ourselves in several projects each year. For example a church cleanup, several meals which we prepare for the church, and several fund raisers. These fund raising projects allow us to buy much needed items for the church. Several items purchased in the last few years have been an icemaker, a new refrigerator, and a new sign. Please come join us!
United Methodist Women - The women of the Church are a vital part of the United Methodist Church, both in the local congregation and at the district and state level. If you are not presently a member of a Circle, you are invited to join the Circle that best fits your needs.
2010 United Methodist Women Reading Program - The program includes 11 new titles that are available in the Pickens County Library. Any woman who wishes to participate in the program for credit may obtain information from Myra Armistead.
A few of the new reading selections are: My Faith So Far: A story of Conversion and Confusion. Patton Dodd A Thousand Splendid Suns. Khaled Hossenini. (lives of w Afghan women) Closing the Food Gap: Resetting the Table in the Lane of Plenty. Mark Winne (partnerships between family farms and impoverished communities) The Suicidal Planet: How to Prevent Global Climate Catastrophe. Mayer Hillman (steps for local communities and families) Overcoming Life's Dissappointments. Harold S. Kushner.
The Dolly Brock Circle meets at the church the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00 pm. We are one the three circles of the United Methodist Women at Mount Zion that enjoy fellowship, bible study, worship, and outreach opportunities. We support local, district, state, and global ministries. Joining this group of committed women is a unique opportunity no matter who you are or where in your life you are at this moment. We welcome you to the Dolly Brock Circle!
The Mattie Mae Allen Circle is made up of mostly professional working ladies. The meetings are held from September through May on the first Wednesday of each month. The meetings take place in the homes of the members at 7:00 pm. We have several meeting traditions including a salad supper in May and a holiday dinner at a restaurant. Often we do not meet the months in which there is a joint circle. Some of our projects have included Hanging of the Greens, decorating the Central Heritage house, adopting Helping Hands children for the holidays and participating in Mt. Zion UMW projects and missions. The majority of the teachers in the children's program are members of the Mattie Mae Allen Circle, so we strongly support and participate in the children's programs and projects. We communicate with one another frequently through email. We are becoming Mt. Zion's first "electronic" circle. If you have any questions you may contact Vicki Miesbauer through the church office.
The Eloise Gaines Circle meets on the first Tuesday after the first Sunday of October through May at 2:00pm. The meeting place is at the discretion of the hostess/hostesses, i.e., in the home or church. December and May meetings are in convenient restaurant locations as "Dutch Luncheons."
Our membership is comprised largely of "young at heart" members but all women of the church and guests are invited to join us for any and all occasions. We are small in size but mighty in love, faith, and outreach with belief in uniting United Methodist Women for continuation of community to know God and to experience Jesus Christ as whole persons in supportive fellowship and participation in the global ministries of the church. (A paraphrase of the Purpose of UMW). We look forward to including you! For further information, transportation, or meeting locations contact Susie Hautula through the church office.
