Clemson Community Care hosts Joint Circle Meeting - On Saturday February 20, 2010 the Mattie Mae Allen Circle hosted the United Methodist Women of the church for a joint meeting. The meeting was held at Clemson Community Care.
The director Karen Ellers prepared an excellent program informing us of the services provided by
Clemson Community Care. CCC serves the communities of Clemson, Pendleton and Central.
In 2009,Clemson community Care provided food for 2180 families. These families
were about evenly distributed between all three communities.
The needs of the poor in our community also increase during the summer months when our universities slow down. It gave us a different perspective. It also surprised us to find out that in instances where utilities or rent is paid, that CCC requires the client to make some type of contribution. CCC is set up to help people in emergency or temporary conditions and is a hand
up not a hand out. It is supported by churches, individuals, groups, and some grants.
Each year ministers are invited to an open house where the Board takes input and listens
to the needs the ministers encounter. It is actually through the suggestion of our own minister,
Kurt, that CCC now gives vouchers for kerosene as Kurt expressed a need for this in
Central. More information on Clemson Community Care
February Food Drive - Thank all of you who donated food for the food drive we had during the month of February for Clemson Community Care. It is great that we are supporting an agency that does so much for our community.
Another way to contribute to Clemson Community Care is to sign up for donations in our·monthly water bills. In May, there will be a concert in which our choir will be participating. Donations and offerings will be taken then. Later on in the fall, there will be a Crop Walk. A portion of that national program goes to provide food for the needy in our community.
Vicki Miesbauer is our representative to ccc. Ansel Miller transports donations from Walmart every Monday morning to CCc. If you would like to volunteer or if you need information, check with our
pastor, or go to www.asburyhills.org.
Clemson Community Care - In January and August, the City of Clemson accepts new registrations for donations to Clemson Community Care through your water bill. You can make an automatic $1 or more more monthly donation as part of your water bill payment. Pick up a sign-up form at Clemson Community Care or Clemsoon City Hall Water department. Or sign up through the Clemson Community Care Web site. www.ClemsonCommunityCare.org
